The 1972 Mercury Cougar XR7 convertible carries a 351ci Cleveland V8 paired with an automatic transmission, which only drives 52,800 miles. This second generation of the Cougar was based on the Mustang platform, and the wheelbase was lengthened an inch over the previous generation. Styling was changed to resemble the larger Mercury Cyclone, including an aggressive center grille with four round headlights.

This is my very uncommon Galaxie 500 fastback. Good running and driving 54 year old all original ride. $4k in maintenance in last 3 months: Tires on original steel wheels (**mags not included**) Monroe maxx shocks, Carburetor remanufactured by Rod's carburetors in Phoenix, Motorcraft alternator, Battery, Battery cables, Starter solenoid (new included) Ford performance parts tune up: Ignition wires, Ignition coil Distributor cap/rotor Electronic ignition pick up, Water pump, radiator hoses, thermostat, Fuel pump, Fuel filters, Brake Wheel cylinders, Brake Master cylinder, Brake flex hoses, Also New ford galaxie floormats and new headliner (not yet installed) more. Starts easy, runs very quiet. No funny noises, no fluid leaks. Registered insured and driven 4-5 times a week. I am the 2nd owner not including the son of the original owner who stored it for over a decade after his father passed. All lights exterior lignts and signals work. I have owned this car since 2012 and have DMV registrations going back to 1981 showing that she spent most of her life in Los Angeles. I have the original owners manual and printed off copies of the original sales brochures.

The car is a Montego MX 2-Door Hardtop 351-4V V-8 Select-Shift Automatic and runs great. She is solid under the hood and the interior is in great shape. The battery is new as of December 2016. selling a nice old car with a really solid body. only rust in car is lower 1/4s that has been repaired. by amature body person. car has a strong 351 clev. alum int. edlebrock carb, has headers and glass packs all new exchaust from header back.so car sound good and strong. no smoke or any other issues with motor. the transmission is a c-6 of same era (71-73) not real sure on date on ford but the best I can tell it is a 73 motor and trans. car came with a 9 inch rear ( not a posi ) . The car came fractory with a 351 w fmx . Car now is running and driving. and needs nothing but driven. good brakes, new shocks, new fuel tanks and sending unit, new rad, all new fluids and belts and hoses. I driven about 2 miles down the road and car drove good. had to have driveshaft shorten so new u-joints and balance done a Columbus Joint and Clutch in Columbus. new dist. and plugs and wires. tried to make car as nice as if I was keeping to drive.
